PRISON ACCOMMODATION

During our trip to Switzerland, we decided to make a stop in the small town of Chur. It’s a beautiful place and it’s only an hour away from Zurich by train. We chose to stay here because the Bernina Express starts its journey through the Alps from here.

Our accommodation was unique, to say the least. It used to be a high-security prison called Sennof Prison, but now it’s been converted into a hostel called Bogentrakt Hostel. We were surprised to see that the original doors to each room had been kept intact, but they added to the charm of the place. Despite their intimidating look, the rooms were actually quite comfortable and cozy.

The exercise yard was left pretty much untouched and looked just like it did when it was still a prison. It was probably the most austere place in the hostel. However, the rest of the facilities were amazing and we had a great time staying there.

CABLE CAR RIDE

During our three-day stay in Chur, we were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of options for entertainment. One of the highlights was taking the cable car up to a nearby mountain, which offered breathtaking views of the town. From above the clouds, we could see the valleys below, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

AROUND TOWN

The township of Chur boasts charming Swiss architecture and winding lanes filled with surprises at every turn.

AND OF COURSE AN ART GALLERY!

If there is an art gallery and/or museum in the town we’re visiting, we always make a point to check it out! Despite being a small town, Chur’s art gallery was surprisingly impressive. For fun, we even like to insert ourselves into some of the artworks. Why not?
